Portfolio

From TV shows and videos to website articles and audio stories, I've produced a variety of content. Scroll through my portfolio to see the different projects I've had the opportunity to work on.

TV SERIES

"Texas A&M Today" is the project I was originally hired for - a show all about creative storytelling and dynamic cinematography. I joined the team midway through production of the first season. The show was not in good shape, in need of organization, fact-checking and improved communication. I got the first season over the finish line in about five months, then immediately started production on Season 2, which we wrapped in nine months.

My roles on this production included pitching, research, scheduling, building relationships, storyboarding, interviewing, leading meetings, writing scripts, working with the show host, combing through edits, occasionally editing segments myself, creating the marketing plan and marketing assets, taking production stills and more. It was a large project and I remain proud of the stories we told and the way we did it.

AGGIE CHEF SHOWDOWN

Chef4.jpg

Texas A&M meets the Food Network in this 25-minute cooking competition. We challenged four of Aggie Dining's best chefs to make a dish that meant something to them. And we produced it with a crew of only eight people.

This is my favorite project from my time at KAMU. It was my baby - I created the concept and led the project to completion. I led all planning, I was fully responsible for the storyboard and script, I scheduled the kitchen, chefs and judges, I made our itinerary and kept everyone on schedule, I interviewed the chefs, I led my student associate producers, and I oversaw the editing process. The finished product is a high-quality piece I'll always be proud of.

WEBSITE ARTICLES

Our website's news section shares stories about our original projects and national shows with a relaxed tone and conversational writing. I'm in charge of this section and write at least one article a month. These are some of my favorites, but all my articles can be found at this link.

WEBSITE MANAGEMENT

One of my first assignments at this job was becoming the content manager for our website. I didn't know it then, but this role would evolve into being a full-on website administrator, updating content, handling old and new pages, formatting, styling, quality assurance, troubleshooting, SEO and more. I learned HTML and CSS to be able to do my job well.

NEWSLETTERS

I knew very little about newsletters before I started this job. But one of my earliest assignments was to write copy for our monthly email newsletter.

Over time, that role turned into selecting content, organizing workflow, writing copy, making graphics, sorting through analytics and eventually leading a redesign campaign.

Our open percentage hovers around 50%, considered high for the newsletter industry. When I started, the open percentage was around ~46-47%, and I'm proud to have increased it a few points.

Creating the monthly newsletter is now one of the main responsibilities for my student workers. They select the content, write copy and make graphics. I oversee the process, edit their copy and build the publication.

And to improve the newsletter further, I'm subscribed to a newsletter about newsletters (Inbox Collective) to learn from some of the best in the game.

PODCASTS AND AUDIO

KAMU-FM began exploring the podcast space soon after I started at the station. I've had the opportunity to produce a podcast about politics and create, produce, record and edit my own short-form podcast series about unseen jobs around the university.

I enjoy telling stories in the audio space because it flexes a creative muscle I don't often get to use. I love telling stories in my "Unsung Talents" series with great atmospheric sound to create an immersive piece.

VIDEO PRODUCTION

Besides programs like "Texas A&M Today" and "Aggie Chef Showdown," I've loved producing short videos about a variety of topics. Watch them below!

Video Editing

Occasionally, I get the chance to edit the videos I produce. While editing is not a big part of my job, I enjoy flexing this creative muscle to keep my editing skills sharp.

YOUTUBE

At the start of 2024, our YouTube channel was in shambles. No one had cared for it in years. Old videos with scintillating titles like "Panel 2," "export for CC" and "youtubeXport" plagued the page. Few videos had correct titles, thumbnails or descriptions.

I asked to take on the task of cleaning up our channel and making it presentable for our audience. I removed outdated, irrelevant videos, retitled nearly every video that was left, added thumbnails and descriptions, and created guidelines for all future uploads. I launched our YouTube Shorts presence and changed the structure of our livestreams. Overall, I brought strategy and purpose to an important part of our station's future that had been neglected for too long.

The work paid off immediately. These numbers represent year-to-year growth in 2024 vs. 2023.

67%

increase in views

111%

increase in subscribers

86%

increase in impressions

As much growth as there's been, there is still a long way to go. Our view numbers are still much lower than we'd like. Our engagement is low. But we're learning, and we're getting better every day.

DESIGN PROJECTS

A small part of my job is graphic design and presentation design. Here are a few of my favorites I've made over the years.

- Who Sits on Stage at Graduation?

- British TV on Passport

- Politically Overwhelmed?

- Halloween Programs

- Vets and Their Pets

- Unsung Talents

- '50s and '60s Rock 'n' Roll

I was responsible for presentation decks for our two seasons of Texas A&M Today:

STUDENT SUPERVISION

Getting the opportunity to hire and supervise student workers has been the highlight of my time at KAMU. It's been such a joy to teach and mentor aspiring media professionals. It's hard to put into words what they've meant to me. They keep me on my toes and teach ME things, blow me away with their ideas and creativity, and make our little world a better place. I am immensely proud of them and everything they do.

I strive every day to create the best experience they'll have in college. From day one, I ask for their opinions and value their thoughts and contributions. I expect a lot of myself and I expect a lot of them, too. But I create an environment where they can succeed.

I oversee, edit and provide feedback on all of their projects. Currently, they create most of the newsletter content, write occassional website articles, contribute episodes to the student perspectives podcast and help produce the variety of content the full-time team is working on.

My students created and produced two original shows: "Gigs" and "Student Perspectives."

My first two student workers graduated in December 2024. They landed dream jobs right out of college. Hannah landed a competitive PR internship at Disney in Orlando and Maria works in a news apprenticeship program for CNN in Washington, D.C.

Now I supervise two new students who are well on their way to the same level of success. I can't wait to see what they do!

PHOTOGRAPHY

Photos help tell stories in remarkable ways. I love how photos can add just the right touch to complete a multimedia story. These are some photos I've taken to complement stories and to provide our crew with behind-the-scenes moments from our time on set.
